The Partnership is mindful of the strategic position that building services engineers have in ensuring that energy conservation and sustainability issues are thoroughly evaluated during the design phase of both new and refurbishment projects. Input throughout the design process including building form, construction materials, orientation and passive services solutions is vital to the successful procurement of well-engineered low-energy buildings.
The Jones King Partnership is a licensed assessor under the UK's Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Method (BREEAM) for both BREEAM for Schools and BREEAM for Offices.
The scheme provides guidance on ways of measuring and minimising the adverse effects of buildings on the global and local environments. In the UK it has become widely accepted as representing best practice, and is central to government policy and targets on improvements in construction.
In addition to a number of trained BREEAM assessors the JKP Sustainability Group also includes the services of a Low Carbon Consultant; part of the newly developed CIBSE Low Carbon Consultants register: www.cibse.org
The Jones King Partnership provides expertise in the design of low energy and environmentally sustainable buildings with particular emphasis on minimising energy use and providing healthy indoor environments.
